Trail Maintenance - Pipestone - June 6th, 2015
« on: May 21, 2015, 09:19:51 PM »
Quote from: Friends of Pipestone:
As part of the Partnership Agreement between Friends of Pipestone, US Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management several projects have been identified for 2015 to provide the agencies with volunteer assistance to help improve riding areas within the Whitetail-Pipestone area. This is a great time to meet fellow members, make new riding friends, and help to ensure riding opportunities are able to continue while protecting sensitive resources.

Everyone is welcome to join us for a day for maintenance in the Pipestone Riding Area.

What to bring. If you have a 4 wheeler with a small trailer it would be greatly appreciated. One project is cleaning quite a bit of silt out of some of the retaining barriers. The dirt will be put into 5 gallon buckets and moved to a dump site with small trailers pulled by 4 wheeler.

Over the past 2 years several trails have been improved with drainage, including silt fencing to reduce sediment going into the streams. The project will entail cleaning out drainage ditches and silt fences and removing the material off site away from the streams. Your help is needed to load the material onto trailers and remove it off site. With the help of as many trailers, 5 gallon buckets, and a little muscle we can get to clean out these areas will help to control sedimentation into the streams.
